How To: Recipe for Grandmas Baked Ham

It does not cost a lot to make a delicious piece of ham or take much effort. My husband is the kind of guy who wants meat and potatoes every night. Ham is great because it is a quick dinner fix since it is already fully cooked. This is turkey ham I am baking here and I am just cutting off what I need and setting the rest aside for another recipe, Cream of Potato Soup

Ingredients:

Soda- The larger the ham, the more soda you will need. At various times,I have used diet coke, ginger ale and 7up. Whichever soda, it will be tasty. For this amount of ham, I use 3/4 of a can and drink the rest.

Brown sugar- I am using about 1/3 of a cup on this ham. Again, the more ham, the larger the portion.

I drizzle a bit of soda over the sugar.

Cover it, trow it in the oven set at 325 degrees and cook till tender and juicy.

Flip the meat half way.

Enjoy!

Sprinkle the dry cake mix over the fruits and do not stir.

Layer the coconut on the top of the dry cake mix, covering the whole thing.

Sprinkle the nuts on top.

Drizzle the butter over the entire dish. I use a turkey baster to make less mess.

Throw it in the oven and let her cook. Set the timer for 70 minutes.

It is done when it is golden brown and firm in the middle.

Truly delicious by itself or with ice cream or whipped topping.

Ingredients For the Best Cream of Potato Soup

1 lb. Potatoes, peeled and cubed (3-4 medium)
4 cups of for boiling potatoes
1 small Onion, chopped, about 1/2 cup
3 tbsp. Butter
3 tbsp Flour
1 tsp ground Pepper
dash of Salt
1/2 tsp. crushed Red Pepper flakes
3 cups of milk (I used 2%)
2 tbsp. Sour Cream
1 cup shredded low fat Cheddar Cheese
1 cup chopped Ham or Turkey Ham
prep time- 15 min, cook time-20 min

First, peel and cut potatoes into chunks. I soak them in cool water until I have all the rest of my ingredients prepared. The water keeps them from turning brown with air contact.

Boil the potatoes in 3-4 cups of warm water. Do not let them overcook.

Before you drain the potatoes, set aside 1 cup of the cooking water for later use.

Drain the potatoes.

Set the cooked potatoes aside with the cooking water.

In the same pan, add butter. Melt at a low to medium heat.

Add onion, pepper, crushed red pepper and salt to the butter. Stir.

Stir in flour, a bit at a time.

Stir in the milk. Make sure the stove temperature is not too high.

Add the cooking water that was set aside. Stir.

Add the ham.Add the potatoes. Also, add the sour cream and cheddar cheese, stir. Simmer for 3-5 minutes. The longer it cooks, the thicker it will become.

Congratulations!! You have just made the best Cream of Potato Soup ever!!
